The Congregants Building of the University of Minho is located on Avenida Central, City of Braga, North of Portugal.

The History of the Congregados Building
The Congregados Building with great historical and architectural value is located on Avenida Central, city of Braga, northern Portugal.
The construction of this space dates back to the end of the 17th century as the Convent of the Oratorian Fathers and the facade of the building was designed by the great Baroque architect from Braga, André Soares.

The Construction of the Congregants Building
The construction of this building dates back to 1687 with the arrival of the Oratorian priests to Braga.
In terms of architecture, this convent had the intervention of André Soares on the corner on the east side and on the main facade.
On the main facade of this building, the impressive line of the cornice stands out, which was designed as a simultaneously continuous and broken line, six windows, all different, with those facing north towards Avenida Central being all very elaborate, in the rococo style.
On the east side, towards Cangosta da Palha, we can see three windows with a much simpler design although with strong frames.
This building is a notable example with Portuguese windows from the 18th century.
The building was a convent, Braga Public Library (installed there in 1841) and Braga Liceu (created in 1844).
In the last decades of the last century, the Primary Teaching School was installed there, later housing the Integrated Teacher Training Center of the University of Minho, and later, the Institute of Child Studies of this University.

This building currently includes the Department of Music, of the Institute of Letters and Human Sciences, the TecMinho Interface Entity of the University of Minho, and a Main Hall and an Auditorium.
The Music Course
The Music Degree Course at the University of Minho created in 2006 was installed in the Congregados Building where it remains today.

TecMinho (Training Center) is currently located in this building, offering courses and training belonging to the University of Minho in Braga.
A Noble Hall and an Auditorium
To this end, this building has a Main Hall and an Auditorium and the cloisters ensure the connection of the various spaces (covered space in arcades that surround the building's garden courtyard).
