The Sameiro Viewpoint is located in the Eucharistic terreiro, at the bottom where the Crypt of Sameiro is located, Avenida do Sameiro, parish of Espinho, City of Braga, Northern Portugal.
In this terreiro, two imposing granite monuments stand out: on the right side the monument of the Sacred Heart of Jesus with the following inscription: “To the Most Loving Heart of Jesus consecrate and dedicate the Portuguese Associates of the Apostolate of Prayer”, and on the left side the monument of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception of Sameiro with the following inscription: “To the Immaculate Mary the grateful Bragaenses consecrate and dedicate”.
This large space where Eucharistic Masses are celebrated inside the Crypt, or camp mass (outdoors), the annual pilgrimage of the Archdiocese of Braga (takes place on the first Sunday in June, departing from the Cathedral and ending in the Crypt of Sameiro), and the statutory pilgrimage with the image of Nossa Senhora do Sameiro (starting in the neighboring Santuário do Bom Jesus do Monte and ending in the Crypt of Sameiro).
From the Miradouro do Sameiro we see a plateau with many houses, areas with green vegetation, in the distance high mountains surrounding the valley all around.
This viewpoint offers a wide view over the city of Braga: to the west the Gualtar area (University of Minho, Braga Hospital), to the south the Lamaçães area, the Nogueiró area and the Rodovia area (Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory, Rodovia Sports Park and Tennis Court).
