Campo das Carvalheiras in Braga

Cruzeiro do Campo das Hortas is located in Campo da Carvalheiras, in Braga, in the North of Portugal.
Cruise Features

It is based on a quadrangle, with cushions, followed by a column divided into three parts, the lower one decorated with diamond points or ovules, and the remaining two striated, topped by a sphere and topped by the archbishop's cross.

Crossroads cross, with quadrangular plinth, prismatic pedestal, column demarcated in the lower third by square elements, and striated above, Corinthian capital and archiepiscopal cross with diamond-point finishes.

This cruise differs from the Cruzeiro de Santa Ana in the decoration of the cushions on the pedestal and the lower third of the column, on the pedestal, whose faces display frames with plant motifs, and in the decoration of the first third of the shaft, with starry geometric motifs and here similar to that of the Tibães Monastery.

The cruise features excellent carved stonework, following the Serlian proportions for the Corinthian columns and the De Vries decoration.
Construction of the Cruise

This cruise was built by Archbishop D. Furtado de Mendonça, in the 17th century.
