The History of Senhora-A-Branca Palace
Palacete Matos Graça is located in Largo da Senhora-a-Branca and is also known as Palácio Senhora-a-Branca.
The interior was marked by a magnificent staircase that ended in a corridor where the main rooms of the house are distributed, it had a vault with decorated stucco supported by fluted columns and Corinthian wooden capitals, wall paintings with Flemish motifs and dates and monuments evocative of the History of Portugal.
The very stylistically rich wall paintings were signed by Vicente José da Silva and dated 1884.
The entire building was threatened with destruction in 2000 and they only ended up destroying its interior.
Currently, the building has been used to construct a more modern building and the lower floor offers commercial services, and only the facade has been preserved from the original structure of the Palace.
