Parque da Ponte appears as a small forest in the center of Braga, useful and comfortable, and well prepared to receive visitors of all ages.
Located at the end of Avenida da Liberdade, close to the base of Monte do Picoto, Parque da Ponte has an indoor and outdoor part. This division occurs because what is today the inner part of the park was once the City Garden.
Currently, inside there is an artificial lake, a small playground and, naturally, many green spaces.

St. John's Chapel
Outside the Ponte park we find the Chapel of S. João. This chapel gains importance due to its central role in the city's festivities. It was built 4 centuries ago and is dedicated to St. John the Baptist. On the night of June 23rd to 24th, thousands of people with Saint John's hammers in hand pass through this area and fill the gardens that surround it with color.
1st of May Stadium
At the top and outside of the Ponte park is the 1º de Maio stadium, designed by Travassos Valdez. Opened in 1950, the stadium is completely covered in granite and has a capacity for 30,000 people. Due to its construction period, it ends up being a symbol of the Estado Novo and its current name is not even the original: until 1974, this was the 28 de Maio Stadium.
For 5 decades it served as home to Sporting de Braga's senior team. Nowadays, Sporting de Braga plays at the Braga Municipal Stadium, built to host Euro 2004 and today one of the city's landmarks. However, the 1º de Maio stadium is still active with games for the city club's youth teams.

Bridge Swimming Pool
Intervention by the Braga City Council in 2016 with the aim of creating greater comfort and safety for its visitors, Piscina da Ponte is clean and recommended! The support building dates back to the 1960s but was completely renovated inside, now featuring modern and clean changing rooms and sanitary facilities. The swimming pool is prepared to accommodate people with reduced mobility.
The Ponte Swimming Pool, being at a higher elevation, allows for an interesting look over the city and is another place where we suggest enjoying the sunset. One of the great attractions of the pool are the diving boards, the highest of which allows you to dive from approximately 5m high.
